With lots of fancy footwork and in some cases, heavy government goodwill, GM, Ford and Chrysler are reinvigorated and ready to take on their global competitors and deliver cars that consumers have been asking for. But the auto industry landscape is very different now than just a few months ago.
Yesterday we posted Top Gear’s segment of Clarkson’s Tesla Roadster test drive. From what started out as Clarkson falling in love with not only an electric-car - but an American made electric-car (yes, at that point we felt like hell froze over), fell apart later on in the segment when Clarkson claimed that his Tesla’s battery depleted after 55 miles of driving.
Well, the wait for the super electric Tesla Roadster is coming to an end soon. The company, which operates out of San Carlos, said it will be releasing the speedy rockets in October or November.
The unnamed owner (for now because of shame) of the Black Tesla Roadster #6 was back at the Menlo Park dealership awaiting news from his insurance company after rear ending a Mercedes Benz C-Class as well as being smoked in ass by a Camry following to close at the corner of Geary Boulevard and Gough Street in San Francisco.
So, the wait is over. Tesla Motors' web-site has officially pulled the cover from the heavily hyped luxurious roadster, powered by an AC motor. The vehicle, capable to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in about 4 seconds and to travel 250 miles per charge at a cost of just 1 cent per mile is now open to your eyes.

Yesterday, Chrysler/Fiat’s new CEO Sergio Marchionne presented the 5-year business plan he hopes will save Chrysler, and bring Fiat back to the US market for the first time in nearly 30 years. This fully electric car wont smoke the hyped Tesla Roadster, but it does have a decent range of 70-150 miles on the stock battery pack and up to 300 miles on the optional lithium-ion pack. Keep in mind these numbers will vary depending on the driving habits of your lead foot.
Tesla Motors, a San Carlos start-up that is building a high-performance electric sports car, has raised $40 million in a third round of venture capital from a group of investors including VantagePoint Venture Partners and Elon Musk, co-founder of PayPal.
Finally, the wait is over. Tesla has just rolled out, debuted and shown (finally- finally- finally) it’s much hyped Model S sedan. Prior to this, most electric cars were driven by people with earth shoes.

Today, Daimler, parent company of Mercedes, announced that they have acquired a stake in Tesla motors, darling of the EV car set, and that they will also be exchanging technologies.
