If you lived anywhere near the Raleigh, NC area in late 2008, you may have heard a mysterious and loud blood-curdling scream off in the distance. Yup, that was me when I found out the Audi made the decision to replace their magnificent 4.2-liter, 354 hp V8 engine with a whiny V6 engine producing 333 hp. By whiny, of course I mean supercharged (despite the weird “V6T” badge.) It was love at first exhaust note, me and the V8
Audi just sent out an email to newsletter subscribers to check out the new 2010 S4, which is now featured on their customer-facing AudiUSA.com website.
The A4 is a fantastic vehicle, and serves as a high quality, luxurious and sporty version of a mid-range sedan. The S4, which for 2009 was not updated with the new A4 design, is now part of the new generation, and it looks great.
German modification company Senner Tuning just unveiled a new appearance package for the Audi A5. The kit, which is their fourth package for the A5, includes a carbon fiber front spoiler, carbon fiber side mirror housings, carbon fiber rear bumper, and rear spoiler. Huge 21-inch alloy wheels along with a new lowered suspension kit give the A5 a sportier stance.
Testing out their aluminum Audi Space Frame (ASF) technology used on the R8, TT, and A8, Audi applied the lightweight construction method to a prototype A5 coupe. The lightweight A5 is 242 pounds lighter than its steel-bodied brother, which gives it a power-to-weight ratio of 159-hp per ton, only 11 hp per ton shy of the more powerful 3.2-liter V6 A5.
Although we haven’t covered anything from German design company Hofele yet, they make some pretty interesting kits for Audis. They aren’t really a tuning company since they only change design elements, but their kits are often worth taking a look.
The BMW M6 has got some hefty competition coming its way. Checkout these recently released amazing spy photos of a prototype Audi RS5 undergoing testing at the Nurburgring. While the Audi S5 really just an Audi A5 on steroids, the RS5 is the S5 on steroids.
The RS5 will debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September this year. We are pretty sure though that it will go on sale in 2010 in Europe. Stay tuned to Carzi for regular updates. We know that you will.
Not long ago, I was crushed to hear that Audi would be dropping their excellent 4.2-liter V8 engine in the S5 for a similarly capable but less enthusiastic supercharged V6. While the forced induction V6 can haul the car along just as well as the V8, there’s just something about that engine’s smoothness, power delivery, sound, and personality that no V6 can match.
Motoren Technik Mayer from Wettstetten, Germany, puts the Audi S5 under pressure. As MTM GT Supercharged the sporty coupes supercharged engine demonstrates impressive performance data. Together with bigger brakes.
Students at the University of San Diego happened across an unusual sighting a couple days ago. Apparently Audi was doing a photo shoot of the new A5 Sportback at the school, and these cell phone camera-equipped students snapped a few photos of the car almost completely unveiled...
Some sneaky spy photographers got some great snaps of a prototype Audi RS5 going around the Nurburgring recently. The RS5’s powerplant hasn’t been confirmed yet, but some speculate it will be receiving a detuned version of the RS6’s 580 horsepower, 5.2-liter twin-turbo V10. Due to Audi’s trend towards smaller (but frequently forced induction) engines, I’d suspect it’s more likely we’ll see ...

Finally, we get some good info and images of the new A5 Sportback, set to be released this September as a 2010 model in Europe. We likely won’t be getting it here in the States, unless Audi sees some demand for such a vehicle. The A5 Sportback, which you first saw in the A5 Sportback Spy Pictures article, is made to be a combination of a coupe, sedan, and wagon. It attempts to take the benefits from each and combine it into one great car, which will compete directly with the BMW 5-Series GT.
Audi gave us some details on the newest addition to the A5 line – the A5 Sportback. The idea here is that the Sportback will be as “emotional and elegant as a coupe, as comfortable as a sedan, and as practical as an Avant.” It will have four doors, which makes me wonder why...
