When a “2010 Mazda5 Minivan” showed up on our review schedule, I cringed a bit. “They know I hate minivans,” I thought, “why would they send me this?” In protest, I decided to not even run a review on the Mazda5.
Well, as it turns out, they might have known what they were doing.
Since its debut back in 2007, the Nissan Altima Coupe has proved to be a more practical “poor-man’s G37″ in terms of styling and even performance. This personality continues into 2010 with a few minor changes this year.
First on this list of changes...
In keeping up with modern marketing methods, Honda innocently set up a Facebook page for the new Accord Crosstour, which promised to be a “sophisticated refinement of a premium sedan with versatile aspects from an SUV.” When the first pictures of the Crosstour went live, Honda received an unintended backlash from Facebook users as they ripped apart the Accord Crosstour’s styling...
While going through our inbox this early afternoon, we received an email from an astute reader by the name of Ken directing us to a recent review conducted by Jeremy Clarkson that provides another look as to what to expect from the newly-introduced Mercedes E63 AMG.
You've read the reviews. You've seen the photos. By now, it's obvious that the Mercedes CL63 AMG is without question one of and quite possibly the most beautiful Mercedes in the current lineup.
Nissan’s latest crossover the QASHQAI, when fitted with the constant variable transmission (CVT), boasts a lower exhaust emission level and improved fuel economy over the manual. Yes, an automatic that’s better for the environment and your wallet, compared to the equivalent manual. And you can choose to have it in either two- or four-wheel drive.
As always, news and events surrounding the Chevrolet Corvette moved at near supersonic speeds. This year brought us two new special editions for 2009, a Corvette Grand Sport for 2010 and launch control. We also had to deal with 26 weeks of Corvette plant closings and the bankruptcy of General Motors. Corvette Racing successfully ended its GT1 program with a class win at Le Mans and the GT2 Corvette made it to the top of the podium at Mosport.
Well its that time of year again…time for Montreal to roll out its red carpet for all the auto manufacturers to show off what they got at the 2009 Montreal Auto Show Pictures… oh wait rewind… did i say red carpet… sorry let me rephrase that, it was more like a 7 year old rag that you could find under your sink in your garage.
Originally published by Wheels magazine, the review provides Australians (and anyone else considering the three aforementioned models) with a well-written look at how each of the three perform while undergoing various testing rounds, with the reviewer eventually giving praise to both the Mercedes and the Holden. A small excerpt from the review:
The 2009 Toyota Venza is quite an interesting vehicle. It looks like a small crossover SUV, or maybe a wagon, but smaller than both. It’s the length of a Toyota Camry, the width of the Highlander, and in between the two for every other dimension. Despite never figuring out what the Venza really is, I found one important thing about it: it’s incredibly useful.
This week’s review is going to be a departure for us here at Automoblog. This won’t deal with how well a car deals with the grocery run, or whether it looks good while sitting in the driveway. This is a road trip. This is something special.
As if we hadn't had our fill of Mercedes CL63 AMG reviews over the past two weeks, Fifth Gear recently took a moment to deliver what turns out to be a futile attempt at analyzing the new model, ultimately stating nothing more than their own assesments as to the current state of AMG.
RENNtech has unveiled new renderings showcasing a potential variant of the SUV that they're considering for future production. Details of the G Wagen are relatively limited, but the company says it's inspired by 30 years of G-Wagens and will feature a diesel powerplant
In 2003, Nissan revived the Z by releasing the 350Z - an everyday sports car aimed at a much larger market than previous Zs. The 350Z lacked much of what the Z was about. The styling was bland, a properly tuned 300ZX TT could still blow the doors off of it, and it was missing the personality of the old Zs. The 350Z was meant for the regular Joe who said “I want a sports car” - not the enthusiast.
For 2009, this has all changed…
The new Mercedes E-class may have got the looks, but does it have what it takes to take on its fiercest competitor from Bavaria, and the Japanese luxury sedan.
For years, manufacturers such as Lexus, Acura, and Cadillac have tried to beat, or at least take some share away from the BMW 3-Series’ firm grip on the luxury sports sedan/coupe market. None, however have come as close as the Infiniti G35. Some say the G35 even surpassed the 3-Series. I for one loved the G35 Coupe. Fun to drive, great handling, great looking, and the best exhaust note this side of $60K.
The 2009 Aston Martin V8 Vantage gets a 4.7L 420hp / 347 ft-lbs engine upgrade which only delivers 0-60 in 4.7, still a step up from its previous 4.3L 380hp! The new model has a Sports Pack option ($3,785) which includes new sexy and lightweight 5 spoke wheels and Bilstein dampers.
Saturday nights were spent standing around at the Dolls house, sipping choc banana milkshakes and watching VW Golf GTi 16 valves taking on the old BMW E30 325i and in those days the legendary Opel Boss was thrown in the mix to spice things up.
To me, Lexus has always been for elitists - someone who cares way too much about what other people think. They are purchased by those who are willing to grossly overpay for a rebadged Toyota to impress his neighbors and coworkers. We get one for a week. Is it still just a rebadged Toyota?
Any day that you’re invited to drive a new Ferrari is a good day. Sadly, this particular Saturday morning was cold and rainy - a general recipe for miserable. We weren’t going to let that ruin our time though; we’ve been waiting to get into the new Ferrari California for months now, so I wasn’t about to pass on the chance to drive it.
When Infiniti dropped off the EX35 last week, I didn’t really know what to think. The first few times I drove it, I didn’t like it. Something about it was just…off. The transmission didn’t feel right, steering was weird, and it felt too small for its purpose. But after a few days, it hit me. This thing is brilliant!
The Need for Speed team has always put out great arcade-style racers for all main platforms, my favorite being Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 on PS2. After that game, they started NFS Underground which focuses on the late-night import-tuner Fast & the Furious type racing. This style continued for six more games. Popular games they were, but enthusiasts were left wanting more.
I knew what to expect last week when they dropped off Hyundai’s new Genesis luxury sedan. Ever since the Genesis line was announced, they’ve been touting how the car in on-par with Lexus and Mercedes at a much lower price point. But when the car actually pulled up into the driveway, it was still hard to believe I was looking at a Hyundai.
