Autocar Magazine recently put the Audi R8 V10, Porsche 911 Turbo and Nissan GT-R on the Castle Combe circuit to see which supercar could register the best lap time.
After the couple years or so of watching aftermarket tuners like 9ff and Switzer Performance crank out ridiculous horsepower from the 911 Turbo and having to deal with the constantly referenced Nissan GT-R topping their performance benchmarks for half the cost, Porsche has finally decided to do something about it. The new 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo tosses out the old 3.6-liter engine and replaces it with a modified version of the 3.8-liter V6 from the Carrera S, good for 500 hp.
The Sportec SPR1 M is a fully modified Porsche 997 Turbo that is stripped and completely reworked from top to bottom. It first appeared at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show is now being built to order.
Back in June, the Porsche tuning wars had really heated up with seemingly all of the top shops taking a crack at the all-star 911 GT2. With that competition still raging, Switzer Performance, one of the standouts who offers an 800 hp Porsche 997 GT2, now has a new secret weapon. Porsche has just announced that a limited-edition 911 Sport Classic will be unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show as well. Limited to just 250 cars, this unique 911 has been developed for over three years by Porsche Exclusive. The 2010 Porsche 911 Sport Classic will set you back a mere 169,300 Euros or USD $242,149.

Back in 2005, RUF Automobile released the Rt 12, based on the Porsche 997, with massive 650 horsepower. Now the German super-tuner has decided it was time for an update. The RUF Rt 12 S gets a little more get up with 685 horsepower which is good for a top speed of 224 mph.
