he Corvette ZR1-based Bertone Mantide could be making a run at the Corvette ZR1's Nurburgring lap time according to Bertone's chief designer Jason Castriota. The first owner of the $2 million Mantide, British-born financier and "gentleman racer" Dan Watkins is considering making a run at the Corvette ZR1's 7:26.4 Nurburgring lap time and Castriota thinks that goal is obtainable.
The face-lifted version of Porsche’s extreme 911, the 911 GT3 was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. So, the Porsche GT3 RS’s face lift couldn’t be far behind and here we have proof in the form of some spy pictures of the mule doing some serious testing at the Nurburgring.
HOT OFF THE PRESS FINALLY!!! Honda has apparently started testing pre-production prototypes of its highly anticipated 2010 Acura NSX, as speculated by these recent spy photos taken in Germany.
The prototype example of Nissan’s new GT-R Spec V has been dazzling observers of its Nurburgring testing of late, reportedly turning in lap times of an almost unbelievable 7:25. If correct, those numbers would make the V Spec substantially faster than the ultra hardcore Pagani Zonda F Clubsport, which set a production car record last October with a lap time of just under 7:28.
Nissan and GM have both released press statements and videos bragging about their amazing lap times around the northern loop of the Nurburgring. Much debate and speculation has exploded into the authenticity of each vehicles “ring runs” between Nissan’s GT-R (Godzilla Awakes on Steroids) and Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (King of the Road).
Earlier this week, more spy photos of a camouflaged 2010 Ferrari F450 surfaced during some track testing runs on what appears to be the Nurburgring in Germany. These new images reveal some Gallardo shaped / Audi LED inspired headlights, single circular brake lights (similar to the duals on the F430) and 3 horizontally centered exhaust pipes.

But alas, it is not so with one Dan Watkins, a British 'gentleman racer' and financier, who is tentatively planning on putting his car to the true test of performance benchmarking by taking on the Nurburgring track record set by the Corvette ZR1.
Back in January we got a preview of Hennessey Performance Engineering's upgrade to Chevrolet's Corvette ZR1. HPE's Z700 Corvette ZR1 includes an extensive list of bolt-on parts combined with a custom tune to boost the standard 638 horsepower ZR1 to 705. And to prove this car is a contender, Hennessey is planning to run the Nurburgring later this year.

The Pagani Zonda F has become the new king of Nurburgring. This amazing carbon fiber lightning quick Pagani Zonda F Clubsport has taken the title from the Porsche Carrera GT as the fastest production car to lap the Nurburgring. Coming in at 7:27:82 the Pagani Zonda F beat the Carrera GT’s time of 7:28.
This Pagani Zonda F is powered by a 7.3 liter V12 engine producing a monstrous 641 horsepower.
