When a “2010 Mazda5 Minivan” showed up on our review schedule, I cringed a bit. “They know I hate minivans,” I thought, “why would they send me this?” In protest, I decided to not even run a review on the Mazda5.
Well, as it turns out, they might have known what they were doing.
ABT AS5 Sportback German tuner Abt Sportsline just got their hands on the A5 Sportback, before most of us can even see it. The Audi A5 Sportback is described “As comfortable as a limousine, elegant as a coupé and almost as practical as an Avant.” After being given the Abt treatment, the new AS5 Sportback can further be described “as dynamic as a true sports car.” The fact that...
In keeping up with modern marketing methods, Honda innocently set up a Facebook page for the new Accord Crosstour, which promised to be a “sophisticated refinement of a premium sedan with versatile aspects from an SUV.” When the first pictures of the Crosstour went live, Honda received an unintended backlash from Facebook users as they ripped apart the Accord Crosstour’s styling...
The compact A3 will soon have another engine choice along with the many engines available in the UK. The new low-displacement 1.2 TFSI will join the ranks, providing 105 hp and getting about 43 mpg thanks to the power of forced induction. The 1.2 TFSI engine is completely redesigned, and is very lightweight (only 197 lbs,) which Audi achieved after...
Today we find ourselves with a few more spy shots of the upcoming Audi A7, this time courtesy of Car Magazine. The heavily camo’d A7 test mule doesn’t give away anything more than we didn’t already know, but it’s good to see one on the streets.
Fiat revealed that it plans to bring its super premium hatchback ‘By Diesel 500’ to India. The ‘By Diesel 500’ is a co-branded model with European clothing firm Diesel.
“Depending on customer feedback and orders we get, we can bring the co-branded 500 by February or March.
Not many companies win awards for products they haven’t even released yet, but Audi has pulled it off with the A1. Readers of the British car magazine “What Car?” voted the new Audi A1 as the “Most Exciting Car of 2010″ before they could even see it.
Volvo
must think it’s on to something with their C30, because they’ve gone ahead and updated it and have been deluging the press with what’s so new and hot about it. On the one hand, the C30 makes sense. It’s sort of like Volvos answer to Audi’s A3, especially the three-door A3 that we, sadly, cannot get here in the states. The C30 comes across as small and sporty and stylish, not to mention a car that’s just begging to have the performance aftermarket have a go at it.
We’ve been hearing about the compact Audi A1 for a while, and now we have our first official spy shots of the small hatchback. The A1 will be a likely competitor to the Mini Cooper, and as you can see from the photos taken outside of Audi headquarters in Munich, Germany, it will first be released as a three-door hatchback model with a five-door version to follow.
Last month we reviewed the 2010 Kia Soul Sport, which we found to be a step in the right direction if they want to compete with the Scion xB, Nissan Cube, and Honda Fit. It wasn’t great, but worth a look. This week, Kia dropped off another 2010 Soul - this time of the “+” (Plus) trim level. I thought this review would be easy, and go something like “here are the differences between the Sport and Plus trim levels.” Turns out that’s not the case…
Mazda is set to unveil an all-new subcompact for the North American market at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show next month. Following the same naming convention as most other Mazdas, the new compact will be called the Mazda2.
The Mazda2, otherwise known as the Mazda Demio, has been on sale around the rest of the world for years now, and has even won multiple awards including the 2008 World Car of the Year award and...
With big SUVs and even smaller crossover SUVs becoming less popular as the price of gas rises (and the economy sinks,) Americans still need a vehicle with enough utility to carry their stuff around, and sedans just don’t hold enough cargo. For example, the 2009 VW Jetta TDI sedan has 16 cubic ft of truck space. Get that same car in the SportWagen edition, and the cargo capacity increases to 67 cubic ft with the rear seats folded down.
Students at the University of San Diego happened across an unusual sighting a couple days ago. Apparently Audi was doing a photo shoot of the new A5 Sportback at the school, and these cell phone camera-equipped students snapped a few photos of the car almost completely unveiled...
Heico Sportiv tuners continue their experiments with the latest Volvo C30 hatchback and its "off-road" HS3 THOR variation. Built exclusively for the upcoming Essen Motor Show in Germany, the new Heico HS3 THOR_2 is almost a replica of its predecessor except for the all-wheel-drive system.
The Mercedes-Benz CLS four-door coupe will soon have another competitor – the Audi A7. This new Audi model will be for sale in Europe beginning 2010 as a 2011 model, says German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, and will likely hit US shores in 2011.
The 2007 Fiat Bravo is the next, err, ultimate weapon of the Italian car maker in re-conquering the European market. Resembling its closest competitor --the Peugeot 307 five-door hatchback-- the new Bravo somehow manages to retain the company's original style and, if you don't mind, even propels it to the next level.
A unique blend of style, space, luxury and sportiness, or at least that’s what BMW says. And apart from the styling, who am I to argue? Essentially the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo is what is loosely termed a “crossover vehicle” these days. It’s like an SUV, only more like a station wagon, so I guess that’s a style.
Finally, we get some good info and images of the new A5 Sportback, set to be released this September as a 2010 model in Europe. We likely won’t be getting it here in the States, unless Audi sees some demand for such a vehicle. The A5 Sportback, which you first saw in the A5 Sportback Spy Pictures article, is made to be a combination of a coupe, sedan, and wagon. It attempts to take the benefits from each and combine it into one great car, which will compete directly with the BMW 5-Series GT.
The Malaysian national carmaker Proton is considering to venture into the Indian car market. It will enter the growing Indian market with a range of hatchbacks and saloons.
Proton Holdings Berhad, Managing Director, H S Z A B Syed Mohamed Tahir, said the company would intensify its export programme to diversify into various market segments and reduce dependence on the domestic market.
This design concept for Daihatsu is a very bug-like concept. No name of it yet, but it is made by keeping space as the top priority. The car is very open from the inside and, as said before, space-oriented
Audi gave us some details on the newest addition to the A5 line – the A5 Sportback. The idea here is that the Sportback will be as “emotional and elegant as a coupe, as comfortable as a sedan, and as practical as an Avant.” It will have four doors, which makes me wonder why...
In Europe, Chevrolet has had great success in the World Touring Car Championships with its Nubira (Optra) sedan. It’s done an admirable job fending off BMWs, Seats (a Spanish brand owned by VW) and other European carmakers. In celebration, Chevrolet decided to use the WTCC as a theme for the Ultra.
