Sometime last year, a few Photoshop gurus got together and made some very funny “mini” versions of their favorite cars. The trend caught on, and soon lots of people were taking their favorite cars, and through the process of image manipulation, made them mini versions of themselves.
There is much to smile about as Lotus introduced their newest Elise. It is true that most people who drive the Lotus are happy, and even the Elise is grinning ear to ear. A revised front bumper, splitter, and clamshell gives the Elise a happy look; something you would expect to see from a smiling character in the movie Cars.
The NHTSA releases a summary of fuel economy performance every so often, which ranks automakers according to how well their vehicles respond to fuel economy. The list is as follows:
Some crazy rich guy (named Jimmy, apparently) wasn’t happy with the scale-busting weight of his Lotus Elise, so he gave it to some tuners in Hong Kong to fabricate a new one - completely out of carbon fiber! Ok, it’s not all made from carbon, but it’s damn close.
This is just too good to pass up and not mention, Lotus makers of all things light and tossable, have already announced a variant for their upcoming, but not-out-to-the-public Evora 2+2.
Forcedfed's Lotus Elise Sport 275 turbocharger kit adds a 7psi boost from a Garrett GT28R ball-bearing turbocharger. Priced at $8,995, it is selling so well that he didn't object when the staff suggested even more extensive revisions, including a full Race 380R package that costs even more than the car.

Lotus may not have a whole lot to worry about yet, but a bizarro Elise of sorts is in the offing for the UK -- the Javan R1 roadster. Both are mid-engined sportsters, but where the Elise sports a modified Toyota 2ZZ-GE engine, the lighter Javan R1 will get power from its closest rival, Honda's 2.0-liter i-VTEC four. The Cornwall-based company -- which plans to launch the car this year -- says the 1433-lb R1 can hit 60mph in 3.6 seconds.

Lots of people like the size and performance of the Elise, but need more than its very spartan interior. Enter the Europa, which is "GT-inspired" and has more creature comforts, with a more complete interior. Still a Lotus, though: 200 hp in a 2,200 lb mid-engine body.
