Automotive News reported that 10 GM studios across the globe have submitted designs for the next generation Corvette. GM's VP of Global Design Ed Welburn says of the designs submitted, some "were absolutely phenomenal".
In a move to shore up public confidence following its stint in bankruptcy court, General Motors on Tuesday unveiled its 2-year product plan for the four core brands: Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GM. Included in the Chevrolet news is that production of the C7 Corvette will start in April 2012 for the 2013 model year. GM also added that the Corvette will maintain the front-engine layout that has defined the sports car for 57 years.

It will adapt various Murano-styling elements, has all-wheel-drive and is expected to be powered by 2.0 litre four cylinder fuel and Diesel engines. The contemporary interior of the Evora Carbon Concept car combines the lustre of the carbon panels with perforated leather and matt alcantara. The bespoke interior uses swathes of sumptuous grey alcantara to cover the footwell, dashboard and roof.

Here is an interesting unofficial rendering of the C7 Corvette by designer Andrei Avarvarii that takes some of the best features of the Transformer's Stingray Concept and morphs them with the best features of the C6. From the Stingray concept, we see the reworked grill area, sloping hood and high fender lines. We can't tell if this rendering has a spilt rear window, but since GM's Global Design Chief Ed Welburn says is coming, we'll patiently wait for 2012 when the real C7 is expected to arrive.
Next month, at the Geneva Motor Show, Hyundai will unveil their latest concept, a stylish saloon that previews the look of Hyundai's new D-segment. Named "i-flow", the concept is expected to attract much attention, thanks to Hyundai's latest form language, "fluidic sculpture". The "flow" represents the aerodynamic shape and the flowing lines of this concept car, and retains the "i" prefix of Hyundai's established nomenclature.
