Chrysler 300C custom revealed

The Detroit auto show has come and gone, and has left the automotive industry with a little more to chew over. As a final wrap-up to quite possibly the most important auto show in America, we chose 10 cars that summed up the best of the show.

The automotive industry looks very different today than it did just a couple years ago. With all of the turmoil and posturing it's been difficult to keep up. Here's a rundown of where things stand today with each major car manufacturer.

With lots of fancy footwork and in some cases, heavy government goodwill, GM, Ford and Chrysler are reinvigorated and ready to take on their global competitors and deliver cars that consumers have been asking for. But the auto industry landscape is very different now than just a few months ago.

Yesterday, Chrysler/Fiat’s new CEO Sergio Marchionne presented the 5-year business plan he hopes will save Chrysler, and bring Fiat back to the US market for the first time in nearly 30 years. The company presented its plan during a live, seven-hour-long marathon webcast, which was notable for two things: first, a virtually unprecedented willingness to discuss future product, and, second, the conspicuous absence of New Chrysler’s much-ballyhooed ENVI electric-vehicle division.

Chrysler’s new post-bankruptcy alliance with Italian automaker Fiat has already yielded plenty of possible changes to the Chrysler lineup. And with vast product changes expected in the coming years, another big change in the near future is a change to the Chrysler logo, which was spotted just this week within the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The Dodge Caliber SRT4 is the performance-tuned trim of the compact Caliber. Poor sales have been cited for the vehicle’s death, and its removal from the lineup

There will be well over 1,600 collector and special interest Mopars at this upcoming car show and over 20,000 people in attendance. There are 200+ vendors in the swap meet area. Chrysler is finally taking the hint. The big, in-your-face, American-in-a-German-way 300C was the biggest hit the brand has had in years.

On the Road and the Course With Chrysler’s Four-Door Cruise Missile. If you’re reading this review, chances are you’re interested in owning Chrysler’s majestically maniacal 300C SRT8.

If the Chrysler 300C looks like a Bentley, then the Chrysler Imperial most closely resembles a Rolls-Royce Phantom up close. But it would be a Rolls-Royce Phantom that stickered for somewhere in the $50,000 range.

Chrysler and Nissan have been working together on new products since last year. Specifically, Nissan was going to build a small car for Chrysler, while Chrysler would build a new full-size pickup truck for Nissan

It’s been a long time since a domestic automaker has enjoyed a major hit in Europe. Actually, it’s difficult to remember such an event ever occurring. Certainly Mustangs and Corvettes have sold moderately well over the years, but nothing quite like Dodge’s new Caliber.

If its not, reports indicate that Chryslers next pimp mobile will look very much like it. Based on the existing 300C platform with rear wheel drive, and a HEMI V8 straight from the SRT8, we feel the Chrysler Nassau is purely an experiment to gauge the public’s response.

Chrysler\342\200\231s showstopping V-8 Firepower concept is slowly rolling its wheels toward production. So says CAR Online, which contends that DaimlerChrysler is moving the 2008 Viper even further upmarket, which will open up a gab in the company\342\200\231s lineup big enough to slot a production version of the 2005 North American International Auto Show concept into.

Dodge Viper fans can rejoice. Their badass Chevrolet Corvette and Porsche 911-fighter will live on into 2010. In a press release issued earlier today, Chrysler Group LLC announced the Viper will not be phased out after at the end of this year.
