Car Manufacturer Honda Siel Cars India on Monday launched a select edition of Honda’s small car, the Honda Jazz. The new car has been priced at Rs 7.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Honda Jazz was ruled to be the ‘Car of the Year’ and ‘Small Car of the Year’ at the NDTV Profit, Car India and Bike India Awards 2010.

Ford Motors Co. had started working on the small car, Figo in 2007 and the global unveiling was done in September last year. Ford India launched the Figo today in both petrol and diesel versions. Currently small cars account for over 72 per cent of the 1.22 million units sold in India. The Figo is based on the 'B' platform of cars which is Ford's new generation platform for small to mid-size cars around the world.

BMW India on Thursday launched two new variants of the best selling BMW 3 Series Sedan, the new BMW 320d Corporate Edition (Diesel) and the new BMW 330i (Petrol). The new cars will be available at BMW India dealerships across India from 25 February 2010 onwards.

Ford India has recently announced that it will launch its compact car Figo, which is colloquial Italian for “cool”, in the second week of March 2010. Korean car giant Hyundai on Wednesday announced the recall of over 47,000 units of its premium sedan ‘ Sonata’ from its home market as well as the US to rectify a door lock problem, but the move will not have any impact in India. “Since the launch of the Sonata in Korea last September, Hyundai Motor discovered a mechanical problem with its front door latches which, in very rare instances, will not close properly,” the company said in a statement.

Team Lotus F1 on Friday lifted the covers of its new car T127 in London. Lotus team principal Tony Fernandes believes the iconic company's return to Formula One after 16 years can help unlock untapped revenue streams in Asia. Fernandes, who owns Air Asia airline, unveiled the Malaysian-backed team's car that will start the 2010 championship in Bahrain next month. Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd, the Indian unit of Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. on Tuesday unveiled the concept of its small car, Etios, at the Auto Expo in New Delhi. “With the introduction of the Etios we will enter the mass volume segment. We are looking at a sales volume of 70,000 (cars) in the first year,” said Hiroshi Nakagawa, managing director of Toyota Kirloskar.

Mercedes-Benz has launched two news models in India, the S 500 L and GL 350 CDI. Mercedes-Benz S500L is a new variant of the S-Class family. The S500L is powered by a 5.5 litre V8 petrol engine.
