The country’s largest passenger car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India, is working on a new engine, which would replace the existing engines of its 800 cc hatchback Alto and 1.1 litre Wagon R. Once the automaker replaces the existing engine of these two high-selling cars, it is expected that it would be in a position to lower their prices significantly, which would help it rev up sales.
Maruti Suzuki is considering on changing of the engines in its range of entry level and A-plus segment cars.
The KB-Series engine, which was unveiled last year, is used to power the latest models of the car major like the Maruti Suzuki Estilo, Maruti Suzuki Ritz and the Maruti Suzuki A-Star.
Car manufacturer Honda Siel Cars India declared on Tuesday that it will export engine components to Japan from October.
“This export programme is due to a shortage of Japanese supply”, Honda Siel president and Chief Executive Masahiro Takedagawa remarked on the sidelines of a conference.

The Indian car leader Maruti Suzuki has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility for engine production in Gurgaon. The facility will be utilized for the production of 1,197cc K12M petrol engines. It is a four-cylinder engine that generates an output of 84 bhp and is the second aluminum engine which is being produced by Maruti Suzuki in India, the first one is the K10B engine fitted in the global car A-star.
