Belgian tuning company Caractere adds the Audi Q5 to their list of modified vehicles. The new kit is more subtle and less aggressive than the Abt Sportsline Q5, which is good for people who want to change the appearance of their Q5 without being too flashy about it.
Ever heard of the brand Hispano? Me neither, until now. Turns out they’re a luxury car maker whose made a crap-load of cars that we’ve never heard about. But based on what they’re creating now, I have a feeling the name will get more well known in the supercar community...
Are rich people suddenly getting stupider? First we have a Bugatti Veyron crash into a lake last week, and now this. Looks like a beautiful red Audi R8 got sandwiched in between two vehicles in Costa Mesa, CA. The two other vehicles were a Range Rover and a BMW 6-series, both of which are expensive themselves.
After a couple years, it’s easy to get bored with a car you drive every day, especially if it’s not a particularly exciting car in the first place. Take the Audi Q7 for example. It’s not a bad vehicle in any way, but just like every other SUV on the road, it’s a bit…mundane. That doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy a new car every couple of years though. Bored with your Q7? Hand it over to ABT for an energizing facelift and overall upgrade.
ABT AS5 Sportback German tuner Abt Sportsline just got their hands on the A5 Sportback, before most of us can even see it. The Audi A5 Sportback is described “As comfortable as a limousine, elegant as a coupé and almost as practical as an Avant.” After being given the Abt treatment, the new AS5 Sportback can further be described “as dynamic as a true sports car.” The fact that...
Not long after Audi gave us a teaser image of the redesigned 2010 A8, we get these first real shots of the car, which is said to have an “evolutionary” design. What that means is not much has changed, but now it’s fresh. It’s sleeker than the outgoing design, and its taillights resemble those of the Lamborghini LP560-4, the way I see it.
Audi just sent out an email to newsletter subscribers to check out the new 2010 S4, which is now featured on their customer-facing AudiUSA.com website.
The A4 is a fantastic vehicle, and serves as a high quality, luxurious and sporty version of a mid-range sedan. The S4, which for 2009 was not updated with the new A4 design, is now part of the new generation, and it looks great.
Last week, we covered one artist’s conception of the R8’s replacement, which he called the R10 Concept (seen above.) Today we heard news of rumors flying around about some of the R8 successor’s specs.
The Audi R8 is currently the best reviewed coupe on Motormouths.com, a car review aggregation website, with an overall average of 91. Actually it’s tied with the Nissan GT-R, also an excellent vehicle, but they have the R8 listed as #1.
Of course this doesn’t come as a surprise – the R8 has won multiple awards from all sorts of automotive media...
German tuners MTM have given the Audi S4 and S5 Cabrio enough power to compete with their up-trimmed siblings. Through the use of their M-Cantronic ECU system, MTM has given the two cars – both powered by the 3.0 TFSI V6 engine – 430 horsepower, which is only 10 hp less than the stock Audi RS4’s V8 engine.
German modification company Senner Tuning just unveiled a new appearance package for the Audi A5. The kit, which is their fourth package for the A5, includes a carbon fiber front spoiler, carbon fiber side mirror housings, carbon fiber rear bumper, and rear spoiler. Huge 21-inch alloy wheels along with a new lowered suspension kit give the A5 a sportier stance.
What’s a tuning company to do when manufacturers such as Audi take their high performance sports cars – in this case the Audi TT – and make it better? The Audi TTS is Audi’s tuned version of the TT. Think that was enough? Of course not! Audi then came out with the TT RS – a turbocharged 340 hp version of the sports car. This is normally tuning company territory.
Testing out their aluminum Audi Space Frame (ASF) technology used on the R8, TT, and A8, Audi applied the lightweight construction method to a prototype A5 coupe. The lightweight A5 is 242 pounds lighter than its steel-bodied brother, which gives it a power-to-weight ratio of 159-hp per ton, only 11 hp per ton shy of the more powerful 3.2-liter V6 A5.
What you see above is independant designer Marouane Bembli’s interpretation of what he calls the Audi R10 – the successor to the R8. In line with Audi concepts of past, the R10 is a futuristic representation of the current R8 supercar. Stretched and widened, more aggressive overall styling, and typical futuristic looking wheels straight out the movie I, Robot.
Have you ever wondered if Audis are safe vehicles? Wonder no more - here is the proof you need. This driver, who’s nickname should now be “Lucky,” apparently lost control of his Audi RS6 and slid sideways into a tree at high speed. Very high speed I would imagine, since...
Insiders at Audi have confirmed production of the R8 Convertible, probably to be released in 2011. The R8 Cabriolet (hopefully called a Spyder instead,) will most likely forgo the retractable hardtop, and instead use a fabric roof. We assume this because of the limited space in the rear from the R8’s mid-mounted engine, and from Audi’s previous use of fabric tops.
German outfit Senner Tuning is at it again, this time releasing an upgrade package for the Audi R8. Based off of the R8 4.2, Senner calls this version the Super Sport.
We’ve seen the Audi e-tron electric supercar in red since the Frankfurt Motor Show, but Audi just repainted it orange and brought it to the 2009 LA Auto Show for North America.
The Audi R8 V10 hasn’t reached US shores yet, but it’s been in Europe for some time now. This has given tuning companies such as Abt plenty of time to make the already insanely powerful 525 hp, 5.2-liter V10 even better.
The compact A3 will soon have another engine choice along with the many engines available in the UK. The new low-displacement 1.2 TFSI will join the ranks, providing 105 hp and getting about 43 mpg thanks to the power of forced induction. The 1.2 TFSI engine is completely redesigned, and is very lightweight (only 197 lbs,) which Audi achieved after...
Today we find ourselves with a few more spy shots of the upcoming Audi A7, this time courtesy of Car Magazine. The heavily camo’d A7 test mule doesn’t give away anything more than we didn’t already know, but it’s good to see one on the streets.
Not many companies win awards for products they haven’t even released yet, but Audi has pulled it off with the A1. Readers of the British car magazine “What Car?” voted the new Audi A1 as the “Most Exciting Car of 2010″ before they could even see it.
Although we haven’t covered anything from German design company Hofele yet, they make some pretty interesting kits for Audis. They aren’t really a tuning company since they only change design elements, but their kits are often worth taking a look.
Audi’s electric R8 we reported a few days ago is becoming more of a reality. An Audi microsite just appeared touting that on September 15, 2009, electricity, and all its force and power, will run wild and free and completely untamed.”
Audi’s e-Tron Electric Supercar Concept made a big splash at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, and as a result, Audi has plans to move forward with their plans to build electric cars. The first car to be built is a sort of “mini-R8″ roadster supercar to compete with the Tesla Roadster called the R4.
Audi is running with a new promotional technique in which they use cleaning agents to “paint” the sidewalks in New York City. A great choice in location, considering the cleanliness of the city.
The images created on the sidewalks depict...
PPI, another German Audi tuner, has taken some of their best parts developed for the Audi R8 and rolled it all into one. They call it the PPI RAZOR GTR, and it’s mean. The result of this is an R8 with 580hp, and about 443 ft-lbs of torque. Their main objective here was to optimize the power-to-weight ratio of the R8, so they’ve also lightened the car by 551 lbs. This allows the Razor GTR to run from 0 to 62mph in 3.7 seconds, and reach a top speed of 206 mph.
Can’t wait for the R8 5.2 V10? No problem, PES Tuning has your back. This tuning company has developed a supercharger system for the R8 4.2 to boost the power to an estimated 530 hp (110 over stock) and 415 ft/lbs torque (98 over stock.) While this may not exactly replace the R8 V10, at least it will create more power from the V8 version of the car.
This year Audi will feature the A3 TDI – awarded “Green Car of the Year” by Green Car Journal. Can you tell the direction the auto industry is heading here? Featuring the A3 TDI is a very smart move on Audi’s part, and will likely bring in a lot of buyers. This will also help out the diesel market in general, which will be a positive step, especially in the US market.
Heffner Performance is known in the high-end tuning world for creating ultra-powerful versions of cars like the Dodge Viper, various Lamborghinis, and the Ford GT
. Now they got their hands on an Audi R8 and added their own twin turbo system. The stock R8, according to their dyno tests, produced 353 rwhp. After Heffner added the TT system with only 6 psi of boost, the car output...
